Corporate Lawyer Accidentally Hits “Accept All,” Assumes Other Side Will Happily Re-Redline

MELBOURNE — A corporate lawyer at Denning & Co accidentally accepted all changes in a contract he had just redlined, before sending it straight back to the opposing side. The lawyer is reportedly “pretty sure they’ll be fine just doing the comparison themselves.”

“Look, they’ll see what I meant to do,” said the lawyer, who had spent 14 hours making painstaking adjustments before erasing them in a single keystroke. “Besides, it’s a trust-building exercise — now they get to figure out what I was thinking.”

The opposing counsel has confirmed receipt of the document, but sources say they are quietly delighted to bill another 20 hours reconstructing the draft from memory. “It’s nice when the other side just hands you a fee boost like that,” one associate confided.

Denning & Co have since clarified that the mistake will be treated as “value-add learning” for the junior associate responsible, who has been given the opportunity to redo the entire contract over the weekend.
