This week we considered various tests for property and examined when software is property. Software is a form of property as copyright and data entries in software might themselves be copyright but the question is who is the owner: the user who makes entries or the creator of the software. The user of accounting software will own the copyright in the journal entries but points in space invaders will be copyright of the software developer.
We have started on the Ainsworth tests and will continue with that next week. Besides magic internet money we will consider whether accounting journal entries, points in space invaders and bank account balances are property.
